Theological Centrum Activities
HOLY
HOURS
At present, Theological Centrum
organizes Holy Hours for priests
in different venues to facilitate
attendance. The first Holy Hour
was held when the Chapel of Our
Lady of Antipolo was blessed by
His Eminence, Jaime L. Cardinal Sin.
Subsequent Holy Hours were held
every second Thursday of the month
at the same chapel.
This
two-hour Eucharistic devotion begins
with the exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament, followed by two guided
meditations on priestly spirituality,
and then the Benediction. Sufficient
time is allotted for personal reflection,
confessions and spiritual direction
in between the meditations, as well
as before or after the Holy Hour.
The activity is followed by lunch
and an informal get-together, wherein
the priests can share their pastoral
experiences in the different areas
of their ministry.
CLOSED
RETREATS
Theological Centrum organizes at
least one closed (stay-in) retreat
for secular priests each year, starting
on a Monday morning till the following
Thursday after breakfast. The activities
for each day include the celebration
of the Holy Eucharist, several guided
meditations, a talk on practical
topics, personal examination of
conscience, the Holy Rosary and
the Benediction. Other priests come
to help the main preacher by giving
talks and meditations, and by being
available for spiritual direction,
confession and consultation. These
retreats are usually held at the
Makiling Conference Center (in Calamba,
Laguna) or at the Tagaytay Conference
Center (in Mendez, Cavite).

CONFERENCES
FOR SECULAR CLERGY
From time to time, Theological Centrum
organizes specialized conferences
for priests in different parts of
the country and on different themes,
such as Priestly Holiness (2000).
SEMINAR
FOR SEMINARIANS
Theological Centrum has been organizing
an annual three-day seminar for
seminarians of different dioceses.
The latest was held in April 2007
at St. Michael Retreat House in
Antipolo City.

OTHER
ACTIVITIES
Theological Centrum is regularly
requested to send priests to give
conferences or preach retreats and
recollections for priests or seminarians
in the different dioceses or regions
of the Philippines. Priests and
seminarians are also welcome to
consult on the different topics
related to their formation and ministry,
as well as to avail of spiritual
direction and Confession.
PUBLICATIONS
The first book launched by Theological
Centrum was Basic Christian Doctrine,
by Fr Jesus Cavanna, CM. Since
then, Theological Centrum has always
tried to provide basic books for
seminaries and for the on-going
formation of priests.
Documentation Service is a monthly publication started by TC in 1988. It is
basically a collection of excerpts
from Magisterial documents on a certain
topic, and of choice articles on
the same topic written by well-known
authors. This booklet of around
32 pages aims to spread Church teachings
for the laity, religious and clergy
alike, and offer resources for preaching.

FORMATION
FOR SEMINARY FORMATORS
OF THE LOCAL CHURCH
The Church in general has been realizing
the need to improve the quality
of formation imparted in the seminaries.
This is also true in the Philippine
setting. In response to this need,
Theological Centrum initiated a
new project in 1985, called Formation
for Seminary Formators of the Local
Church. This was made
possible through the collaboration
with the Faculties of Theology of
the University of Navarre (Pamplona,
Spain ) and of the Holy Cross (Rome),
with different international funding
agencies, and above all, the prayers
and generosity of thousands of persons
from all levels of society in the
country and abroad.
